Board your kettuvallam near Kumarakom or Alleppey and drift past churches, temples, toddy shops and paddy fields. Stop at a village to meet coir makers, take a canoe into canals too narrow for the houseboat, and enjoy freshly cooked karimeen and appam on deck.
