During winter, its rolling Bugyals (alpine meadows) are blanketed under deep powdery snow, making it India's foremost destination for skiing and snowboarding. In spring and summer, the meadows burst into lush emerald carpets framed by fragrant pine and deodar forests.

Auli offers some of the most dramatic mountain panoramas on earth. The snow-capped massif of Nanda Devi—India's second-highest peak—dominates the skyline alongside Kamet, Mana Parvat, and Dunagiri. One of Asia’s longest and highest ropeways connects Joshimath to Auli, ascending gracefully over oak valleys and whispering conifers.
