This itinerary covers the most iconic cultural and natural sites.
Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu
Arrive at Paro International Airport (one of the most scenic landings in the world).
Drive to Thimphu (approx. 1.5 hours).
Evening stroll through Thimphu Town and the Authentic Bhutanese Crafts Bazaar.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing
Buddha Dordenma: Massive golden Buddha statue overlooking the valley.
Memorial Chorten: A focus of daily worship for locals.
Motithang Takin Preserve: See Bhutan’s national animal.
Tashichho Dzong: The impressive fortress and monastery that houses the throne room.
Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha (via Dochula Pass)
Drive to Punakha (approx. 3 hours).
Stop at Dochula Pass (3,100m) for panoramic Himalayan views and 108 memorial chortens.
Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the famous "Fertility Temple."
Day 4: Punakha & Wangdue Exploration
Punakha Dzong: Arguably the most beautiful fortress in Bhutan, located at the confluence of two rivers.
Walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in the country.
Day 5: Punakha to Paro
Drive back to Paro (approx. 4 hours).
Visit National Museum (Ta Dzong) and Rinpung Dzong.
Evening free to explore Paro's local cafes and souvenir shops.
Day 6: Haa Valley Day Trip or Chele La Pass
Drive to Chele La Pass, the highest motorable point in Bhutan.
Optionally continue to the serene Haa Valley to see a more traditional, less-visited side of Bhutan.
Return to Paro for the night.
Day 7: The Highlight – Tiger’s Nest Hike
Hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest). This is a 4–6 hour round-trip trek to a monastery perched on a cliffside.
Evening: Relax with a Traditional Hot Stone Bath, a perfect way to soothe muscles after the hike.
Day 8: Departure from Paro
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
SDF Policy: The current reduced SDF ($100 for internationals / ₹1,200 for Indians) is scheduled to remain in place until August 31, 2027.
Guided Tours: All international tourists (except Indians, Bangladeshis, and Maldivians) are required to book through a licensed tour operator. For Indians, a guide is mandatory for sightseeing but not for the entire stay.
Currency: Indian Rupees (INR) are widely accepted in denominations of ₹100 and ₹500. Avoid ₹2,000 notes as they are often not accepted.
Best Time: Aim for March–May (Spring) or September–November (Autumn) for the best weather and clear views.
