Day 1: Arrival in Colombo Morning: - Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport. - Transfer to your hotel in Colombo.
Afternoon: - Explore Colombo: visit the Gangaramaya Temple, and Independence Memorial Hall, Mount Lavinia Beach and a city tour.
Evening: - Enjoy dinner of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Colombo to Kandy Morning: - Depart for Kandy (approximately 3.5 hours by car). - Visit a spice garden en route.
Afternoon: - Check into your hotel in Kandy. - Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Sri Dalada Maligawa, commonly known in English as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the Royal Palace Complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha.
Evening: - Attend a cultural dance performance. - Explore Kandy Lake.
Day 3: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya Morning: - Take a scenic train ride from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (approximately 4 hours).
Afternoon: - Check into your hotel. Often referred to as ‘Little England’, this genteel highland community does have a rose-tinted, British-country-village feel to it, with its colonial-era bungalows, Tudor-style hotels, well-tended hedgerows and pretty gardens. Nuwara Eliya was once was the favored cool-climate escape for the English and Scottish pioneers of Sri Lanka’s tea industry. Visit a tea plantation and factory to learn about Sri Lankan tea.
Evening: - Stroll around Nuwara Eliya town and Lake Gregory.
Day 4: Nuwara Eliya to Ella Morning: - Depart for Ella (approximately 1.5 hours by car). - Hike to Ella Rock or visit Little Adam's Peak. The two most popular hikes are Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock, and both are suitable for all ages. Little Adam's Peak is a much easier and shorter trail on a well-formed, signposted path. It's also more accessible from Ella town and offers the perfect sunrise view. Afternoon: - Explore the Nine Arches Bridge and take photos.
Evening: - Enjoy a relaxing evening in Ella. Consider a local restaurant for dinner.
Day 5: Ella to Yala National Park Morning: - Depart for Yala National Park (approximately 2.5 hours by car).Yala National Park is a huge area of forest, grassland and lagoons bordering the Indian Ocean, in southeast Sri Lanka. It’s home to wildlife such as leopards, elephants and crocodiles, as well as hundreds of bird species. Inland, Sithulpawwa is an ancient Buddhist monastery. Nearby caves contain centuries-old rock paintings. Southwest, Magul Maha Viharaya also has ancient Buddhist ruins. Both are pilgrimage sites
Afternoon: - Check into your accommodation near the park. - Go on an afternoon safari (to be pre-booked)
Evening: - Dinner at your lodge or nearby restaurant.
Day 6: Yala National Park to Galle
Morning: - Embark on an early morning safari in Yala National Park.
Afternoon: - Depart for Galle (approximately 3 hours by car). - Explore Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. This was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 432 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka
Evening: - Enjoy dinner at a seaside restaurant.
Day 7: Galle to Colombo and Departure Morning: - Depart for Colombo (approximately 2 hours by car). - Visit the local markets or do some last-minute shopping.
Afternoon: - Head to the airport for your departure.
